In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate.

The fifth reason we refuse to delegate is a lack of CONFIDENCE or TRUST in the other person.

I invite you to consider these questions:

Do you have evidence that you can place your CONFIDENCE in another person?
When have you felt disappointed by someone you trusted?
Do you have a story or limiting belief that “You can’t TRUST others”?
Does it feel SAFE to put your trust in others?
Do you have self-confidence regarding your ability to put your CONFIDENCE in the right person?

I can help you too, my friend.

In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate.

The fourth reason is FEELING GUILTY about adding more work onto another person’s plate or to-do list.

I invite you to consider these questions:

When you delegate, are you doing something out of integrity according only to you? If not, are you feeling DISCOMFORT rather than GUILT?
What is your INTENTION for delegating?
What do you worry that others will THINK or FEEL about you when you delegate?

In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate.

The third reason is preferring not to reassign enjoyable projects, tasks, or responsibilities.

I invite you to consider these questions:

Which PROFESSIONAL projects, tasks, or responsibilities do you really enjoy?
Which PERSONAL projects, tasks, or responsibilities do you really enjoy?

In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate.

The second reason is wanting to be indispensable to their team or loved ones.

I invite you to consider these questions:

How often do you strive to feel irreplaceable, indispensable, valuable or needed?
When does your “Inner Critic as Martyr” tell you that you’ll only be “wanted” if other people “need” you to help, care for, save, or rescue them?
How are you stealing “growth opportunities” from others by refusing to delegate?

In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate.

The first reason is thinking and believing that it will take longer to explain the task than actually complete it themselves.

I invite you to consider these questions:

When do you believe that you have a “scarcity of time”?
When do you overcomplicate tasks or expect perfection?
What is the “minimum baseline” you can expect in regard to task completion?
How is it possible that you have plenty of time to delegate?

I can help you too, my friend.

Why You Won’t Delegate

Sunday Jul 17, 2022

Sunday Jul 17, 2022

When we DELEGATE in our professional or personal lives, we ask or request that other people take on tasks or responsibilities.

In “How To Delegate Effectively: 9 Tips for Managers,” by Lauren Landry of the Harvard Business School, there are 6 main reasons why people won’t delegate. They:

think it would take longer to explain the task than actually completing it themselves.
want to feel indispensable.
enjoy completing certain projects so prefer not to reassign them.
feel guilty about adding more work onto another employee’s to-do list.
lack confidence or trust in who they need to transfer the project to.
believe that they’re the only ones who can do the job right.

Keep this in mind when considering what to delegate:

“Only do what ONLY YOU can do.”

We all feel TRAPPED at times. Here’s how I support my clients as they overcome being “trapped” and create independence, liberation, and freedom:

I teach them how to make decisions in their bodies.
I help them discover their own version of Inner Critic and learn how to manage the chatter without deferring to it for advice.
I help clients identify stress triggers and stress responses. And, we create plans for closing and completing stress cycles.
I support clients in regulating their nervous systems.
I assist clients in deciding what they want and need from others and we work together to create and communicate boundaries.
I collaborate with clients to create what they really want from a place of self-trust and self-confidence.

There’s a difference between feeling, processing, and learning from our emotions and thoughts AND getting trapped in them.

I invite you to try this when you feel triggered and are experiencing an uncomfortable emotion:

Write down your thoughts on paper to gain some distance and awareness.

Describe WHERE you feel the sensations of the emotion in your body:

head?
temples?
neck?
shoulders?
back?
chest?
gut?
hands/feets?
arms/legs?

Describe the sensations of the emotion:

tight or open?
constricted or expansive?
heavy or light?
hot or cold?
color?
speed of sensation?

After you FEEL the emotion all the way through, get curious about what you were THINKING that created the emotion.

Once you’ve felt the emotion, and have learned from it, ask yourself:

Does it serve me to keep feeling this way?
Does it serve me to keep thinking the thoughts that are causing this emotion?

Decide ON PURPOSE what you want to feel:

satisfied or fulfilled?
delighted or surprised?
peaceful or calm?
successful or accomplished?

Finally, tell your brain what you want it to focus on:

“I’m looking for evidence of being safe, getting help, being included, being acknowledged, etc.”
“I’m looking for examples of all things being figureoutable.”

We don’t GET TRAPPED and lose our authenticity - we sacrifice our authenticity and GET TRAPPED.

Elvis Presley was heartbreakingly trapped. The King of Rock ‘n Roll:

sacrificed his authentic gifts and talents to STAY successful
lacked the ability and willingness to trust his body when it told him that he was stressed, exhausted, depleted, and needed a break FROM the success.

Consequently, Elvis was trapped in a joyless life, a suffocating career, and in an unhealthy, addicted body.

Consider these questions:

When do you “water down” your authentic self or downplay your inherent gifts and talents in order to please or be palatable to others?
When do you ignore what your body is telling you that it needs in order to be calm, peaceful, rested, and healthy?
When do you allow others to define SUCCESS for you?
When do you sacrifice satisfaction, contentment, passion, delight, peace, or joy in order to keep up with your SUCCESS?
How often do you feel BURNED OUT or angry, resentful, bitter, frustrated, or disappointed?

When You’re Trapped in Habits

Wednesday Jul 13, 2022

Wednesday Jul 13, 2022

Sometimes we feel TRAPPED now in habits that may rescue us immediately albeit temporarily in the moment.

I invite you to consider these questions:

Do you feel guilt or shame because you refer to your habits as GOOD or BAD?
Which habits have you struggled to START?
Which habits have you struggled to STOP?
If you notice that you have a habit you’d like to STOP because it doesn’t empower or serve you  long-term, what BENEFITS do you get from the habit at the moment?
What is the habit COSTING you?
If you notice that you have a habit you’d like to START, how do you think you will FEEL or NOT FEEL?
