There are five elements or components of differentiation:
content (what you to need to learn)
process (how you learn it and how you apply it)
product (what you create and who you create it for)
environment (the circumstances you require in which to change)
assessment (how you’ll measure your progress)
Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom by Susan Winebrenner.
If you want to make your life different, you must differentiate your PROCESSES. Your PROCESSES are your habits, systems, routines, rituals, and approaches to apply what you’ve learned.
I invite you to consider these questions:
What habits do I keep doing that aren’t serving me?
What are the temporary benefits I get from this habit?
What is NOT starting new habits going to COST you?
What prevents me from following through when I want to START or STOP a habit?

If you want to make your life different, you must differentiate your CONTENT. Your CONTENT is your level of understanding and knowledge regarding:
who you really are
your gifts, talents, passions, and strengths
how to take care of yourself
how to meet your own needs
I invite you to consider these questions:
What do you need or desire to learn more about?
How might that new knowledge impact your life?
My clients all come to me wanting and desiring to learn more about themselves. I tailor my CONTENT as a coach to the specific needs of the client.
I can do that for you and give you just what you need to create your “different”.

“To make forward progress from what they know to what they don’t yet know, gifted students need compacting and differentiation.”
Susan Winebrenner
We, too, need to compact and differentiate our lives in order to continuously progress.
When we compact, we “condense” our obligations to make room for our “different”.
I invite you to consider these questions:
What does continuous feel like to you and according only to you?
What is the smallest of this that I need?
What is the smallest amount of this that will allow me to make continuous progress?
What is the “different” that I really desire?

“We fail the minute we let someone else define success for us.”
― Brené Brown, Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts.
Underachievement can be impacted by allowing others to define SUCCESS and FAILURE for you.
I invite you to consider these questions:
How do you define ACHIEVEMENT?
How do you define CREATING RESULTS?
How do you define SUCCESS?
How do you define FAILURE?
Which results do you really want to create?
If no one noticed what you did or did not create, what would you create simply because the thought of doing it makes you giddy?
When you are trying to “prove” something to someone, what are you really trying to prove?
Who are you trying to “prove” to?

Underachievement can be impacted by a lack of support while you attempt to create the results you really want.
I invite you to consider these questions:
Which teachers, authors, or mentors might be able to support you?
Are you willing to consider hiring someone to support you?
What might it take for you to reach out and ask for support?
What might prevent you from doing so?

Underachievement can be impacted by a deep fear of being rejected or being different.
I invite you to consider these questions:
When do you notice fearing being rejected?
If you’re rejected, what are you going to make it mean about you?
When does it feel unsafe to be different?
If I want something different or my results make me “different”, I’m afraid that…. ?
When do you worry that you’ll feel disconnected from others if you do what you really want to do?

Underachievement can be impacted by not having the time or space to pursue what you’re really passionate about.
Our goal is to “buy back time” to focus on what really lights us up.
I invite you to consider these questions:
What are you doing that someone else could do instead?
When do you say YES when you want to say NO?
Is your workload beyond your capacity?
Do you struggle with YES or NO decisions?
How often are you in a perpetual state of burnout or overwhelm?
What might feel satisfying to you?
What can you say NO to now?
How can you be of service to others in only the way that you can be?

Underachievement can be impacted or caused by perceiving our “work” to be a waste of time or arbitrary. .
In Better Than Before, author Grethin Rubin highlights 4 ways we “tend” to respond to expectations:
UPHOLDERS meet the expectations of others and themselves.
OBLIGERS meet the expectations of others yet may flake on their own.
QUESTIONERS meet their own expectations but resist the arbitrary expectations of others.
REBELS resist all expectations.
I invite you to consider these questions:
When are you being asked to do “arbitrary” work or tasks?
When do you notice yourself questioning or rebelling?
When do you notice thinking that what you’re doing or learning is irrelevant to your life?

Underachievement can also be impacted or caused by not knowing or using your inherent learning style or strength.
Here are learning styles:
Verbal/Linguistic: the learner prefers to use spoken or written words to demonstrate mastery.
Physical/Kinesthetic: the learner prefers using their hands, body, and sense of touch while learning.
Logical/Mathematical: the learner excels using logic, reason, and is able to recognize patterns.
Aural/Auditory/Musical: the learner thrives using sound and music and soaks up knowledge by listening and hearing.
Visual/Spatial: the learner prefers to use pictures and images. They learn by observing and watching.
Social/Interpersonal: the learner thrives while working in a group and usually is a great communicator.
Solitary/Intrapersonal: the learner prefers to learn and work alone and thrives with independent projects and activities.
Here’s an article that further explains learning styles:
Learning Styles
I invite you to consider these questions:
What’s your dominant learning style(s)?
When do you notice using this style?
When do you notice trying to force yourself to have expertise using a style that’s not yours?
How can you begin to use your learning style strength in your life?

Underachievement can also be impacted by trying to do work that is TOO EASY or work that is TOO DIFFICULT.
If we finish something that’s too easy, we don’t value the results because we didn’t have to work hard to create them. If we attempt to do something that’s too difficult and we never create satisfying results, we don’t feel as if our work was worth it.
We want to engage in work or projects that allow us to squirm so that we can grow and increase our self-esteem. If it’s too easy, this won’t happen. If it’s too difficult and we consistently fail, that’s not ideal either.
I invite you to consider these questions:
What are you spending time doing that is way too easy for you and not at all satisfying?
When do you force yourself to do work that is outside your areas of strength that is unnecessarily difficult for you?
When do you notice working really hard yet not creating results?
When do you notice not feeling compensated for your efforts?
How often are you squirming?
