Repelling Others With A Victim Mentality
There are “toxic” habits that tend to be repellent to others in relationships:
- Negativity
- Victim Mentality
- Over-Sensitivity
- Over-reactivity
- Neediness/Clinginess
(Inspired by Kathy Caprino’s “Toxic Behaviors That Push People Away” post.)
If you are in a VICTIM MENTALITY habit, you may be:
- blaming a “persecutor” or “villain” for how you feel
- searching for a “rescuer” to solve your problem or “save” you
- refusing to take responsibility for the results you’ve created
I invite you to consider these questions about having a VICTIM MENTALITY habit:
- What do you tend to think or believe when you’re stuck in this habit?
- What do you tend to feel?
- What actions are you taking or not taking?
- How does having a VICTIM MENTALITY habit temporarily benefit you?
- What is a VICTIM MENTALITY habit costing you?
- When do you notice connecting with someone who has a VICTIM MENTALITY habit?
